aaron1013 > I usually try to avoid lens flares, but it just kind of works for me this time.

aaron1013 > Short, sprawling lupine stunted by the constant winds and shifting sand in the Siuslaw National Forest.

aaron1013 > A remote section of the Oregon Coast, where on most days, you can literally walk for miles in the perfectly undisturbed sand. This photo was taken in June of '07, forgotten until now.

aaron1013 > I used a very strong neutral density filter to allow a 2 minute exposure directly into the sunset. The filter really messes up the color accuracy of the camera, making the color tones much warmer and magenta tinted than they are in reality. Personally I like the effect, so I left it as is. On a side note, I have never experienced such a weird evening at bandon. The waves would linger out in the stacks for several minutes (baiting me out there!) and then suddenly surge way in with an impressive rush nearly all the way to the cliffs. I had to pick up my gear and run for it many times, and I'm usually not afraid of getting wet. I'm quite used to it, actually. Something just wasn't quite right, though. There were some young kids playing out in front of me quite a ways, and I had to go tell their parents to bring them in because of the danger.
